Front door hanger

This was June's project.  Great to hang on the door in both June and July.

Very simple project.  Cut a 3/4" board 9x18, drill holes on top on each side for hanger.  Sand the board first to get rid of rough edges and loose pieces of board due to cutting.  Take dry cloth and remove dust from sanding.

tape off top edge to have 6" and paint dark blue.  after it is dry remove masking tape and you will have a nice even space for your star section.

next, place tape over blue edge to keep it smooth and clean.

I did seven stripes, but you can do only five if you wish.  It is all up to you; it depends on how wide you want your stripes.  It is hanging on your door so you should get what you want.

place masking tape along long edge to make smooth lines for strips.  I then painted the red stripes.  I left my "white" stripes natural as opposed to the cream as in the star.

While the stripes are drying place a star cutout on the blue and paint it cream.  You can do white if you want.  Remember, this is your project, so do what makes you happy.

After the project is completely dry then take a sander and go over entire project.  This will help make it look rustic.

The final step is the hanger.  Get a wire gauge heavy enough to hold your board and cut to length you want.  Put one piece through right side, from the back and curl into four or five circles.  This can easily be accomplished by wrapping it around the handle of your foam paint brush.  The put the other side through the left side, from the back and wrap it also four or five times around your foam paint brush.  the last step is optional.  Take some raffia and tie it into a bow around the top of the hanger.  If your nail is small enough it should cover the nail while hanging.

This was an easy project and best done with several friends.  Enjoy the project and the company.

I haven't been blogging, but I have been working on my chair.  It's beginning to take shape which is great.  It's just been toooooo hot to sit outside and work on it. I hope we cool off soon.  I don't care that it is the end of June.

I was too tired yesterday to work on my table and chair set.  Since I was off today I wasn't too worried about it.  But I worked 4 plus hours on it today and I'm nowhere near done.  But it's nice to see how it's coming along though.


I got the white done on the table and the chair.  I got the first coat of purple on the table and it is really beginning to take a nice shape.  I'm hoping to have it done and finished by Saturday and I will post pictures.

I am exhausted!!!  I started on my table today.  I worked for two hours today.  I sanded the table nice and smooth.  It had a layer of mint green [like mint chocolate chip ice cream] and then a shade of medium olive green paint.  Then I brushed off all of the dust from the sanding and then I used a sponge to wipe off all of the left over dust. It looks soo much better.


After that dried I painted the first coat of white paint.  Tomorrow's POA is to put on the second coat of white paint.  It looks like a four day project, but it gives me something to do other than the boob tube.


And that's just the table.  The chair is in good shape.  No sanding there.  All I need to do is to clean it off, let it dry and then paint.  Lots of painter's tape used today and some more to be used. Oh boy...

Today I got a square table at Deseret Industries for $5. Then I borrowed my friend Kathy's electric sander. Tomorrow I will start on the sanding.  When it is nice and smooth I will be painting it both purple and white.  I hope it looks as good as the table I did two years ago.  Stay posted.

Nana, whose 98, and I went to the copper mine, Saltaire and the marina.  We had a great time.

 A reproduction of the original Saltaire.  The first two burned down and the third one has flooded.  The first one had a roller coaster, roller rink and the largest dance floor in the country at the beginning of the last century.

New Watch bands

Made some watch bands and stretchy bracelets that I'm putting into my yard sale next week.  I hope they sell.  The best way to get a picture was to put them inside the top of a box.  Everything else seems to glare from the camera flash.  These look pretty good.  They are different sizes.
